50 Shapes

This work is part of an ongoing investigation into art and biosemiotics—a response and interpretation of the world around me (Umwelt). I use creative thinking to guide my hands with tools and materials.

50 Shapes represents an organism's possible responses to environmental pressures resulting in a change of shape and function, a non-reductionist way of thinking about evolution.

50 Shapes was the winner of the inaugural Byron Arts Magazine (BAM) Art Prize 2018.

I acknowledge the Tul-gi-gin people of the Bundjalung Nation as the traditional custodians of the land and waters where I live and work. I recognise their continuing connection to and enduring care for Country, and pay my respects to Elders past and present.
